Paul is the father of the narrator who finds an ancient tome containing an emblem of Dracula. ![]() He is later found in the midst of being transformed into a vampire, and is killed by Paul with a silver stake to prevent this unfortunate fate. He embarks on this journey with Rossi's daughter Helen, with whom he later has a child with. Rossi is the mentor of the narrator's father Paul, whose disappearance leads him to go on a search for Dracula. She is also later revealed to be a descendant of Count Dracula. The novel chronicles her adventures with her father Paul in search of Helen, whom they believe to be still alive, as well as the mythical Vlad Tepes, better known as Count Dracula. The novel is told in three parts from the perspective of the narrator, who is the daughter of Paul and Helen.
